Farm Visits and Monitoring

Farm visits are very important in fish farming because experts makes a follow –up of any training that farmers have received. It’s an indication that farmers haven’t been left on their own but they continue to be guided to ensure they carry on production activities right. Production processes have different steps so the extension officers make frequent visits to address any challenges farmers might face.

Key elements in farm visits:

  1. Identify and solve any production problems
  2. Follow up on feeds and feeding strategies
  3. Advice on water quality management
  4. Check on fish growth and advice accordingly
  5. Bring on-board new farmers
  6. Advice in post-harvest handling
